FASHION RECAP: LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE SHOW 2018

BlogThePoshPeopleComment

The Louis Vuitton Cruise Show 2018 took place at the Miho Museum, located outside of Kyoto in Japan this weekend. Previously the brand showcased the collection in locations like Rio, and in Palms Springs. The Miho Museum is a beautiful location designed by building designer I. M. Pei and is truly a sight to see.

“WE’VE ALWAYS MADE ARCHITECTURE A VERY INTEGRAL PART OF OUR STORY. JAPAN IS A DESTINATION THAT EVERYBODY THINKS THEY KNOW, BUT THEY ALL KNOW TOKYO.” ~MICHAEL BURKE CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF LOUIS VUITTON

The fashion house’s designer, Nicolas Ghesquière, is a big fan of Japanese culture, which was showcased in the brand’s runway designs. For this collection Ghesquière collaborated with Japanese designer, Kansai Yamamoto. The Japanese designer is best known for dressing stars like David Bowie.

The runway show featured Japanese references like kabuki with the models dramatic makeup with cat-eyes and signature brows. The collection higlighted lots of layered prints, sequined dresses, and of course our favorite the accessories.

5 AWESOME CURVY GIRL STYLING TRICKS

BlogThePoshPeople

By FASHION SECTION

February 2, 2017

Who said curvy girls don’t have many options? Like HELL they don’t! Curvy women have just as many options as smaller-sized women. The key to styling your curves is to make sure to accentuate your best assets and to select pieces that won’t make your silhouette look bulky.

The first concept to keep in mind when styling your curves is to understand your shape and size. The second concept is to identify a few styles that work for you and then rock them like there’s no tomorrow! Once you have successfully accomplished those two rules, your options are unlimited.

Undergarments

Once you have successfully established your size and shape, the first thing a woman should do is invest it proper and well-fitting undergarments. Not only will you feel more comfortable, but your clothes will also fit better. Why? Because, you will have the additional support that you need!

V-Necks

V-neck tops look especially great on curvy women. They’re the perfect neckline when you want your body to look thinner, and longer. V-necks elongate your look and draw the eye downwards. If you have a fuller bust area, choose v-necks that stop right above your cleavage to achieve a leaner, meaner form.

Wrap it Up!

Wrap dresses are a good choice for all sizes but, they are even greater fits for the curvy girl. They enhance your body by giving it the hourglass shape that perfectly conceals all flaws and really gives you that cinched and ultra-sexy look. If dresses aren’t your thing, you may want to opt for a wrap blouse. Whether long sleeved, 3/4, or sleeveless, the wrap blouse is perfect for work or play and will also accentuate your best curves without complication!

Thigh-High and Knee-High Boots

Thigh-high boots or knee-high boots can also be a curvy girl’s best friend. Adding a high boot to an outfit will elongate the legs. Not only will this give you a more statuesque frame, it will draw attention to your lower limbs. During colder months, throw on your favorite knee-high or thigh-high boot with a fun and flirty dress and edgy leather jacket. Now, off you go!

Belt it Out!

Ever thought about incorporating a belt into your look to accentuate those curves?
Adding a belt to an outfit containing a curvier frame will narrow the waist and give the appearance of an hourglass silhouette.  The next time you consider putting on your favorite dress, try experimenting with your look by adding a belt. You might be surprised by how much you can bring in that waistline.

Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize!

Lastly, accessorizing your outfit is essential for all women! Add a great pair of shades or a chunky statement necklace to your look to pull everything together. A woman should always add at least one accessory to an outfit to complete her look. This is a universal rule that holds true for every woman, not just the curvaceous ones.

December 14, 2016

The denim trend should officially be deemed  as The Trend That Will Never Die.
This trend reminds us of that friend that just refuses to get her own place and has a tendency to conveniently insert herself into your moving plans right around lease renewal time; asking, “Where at+e we thinking about moving to, next?” I mean, DANG, FELICIA! I see you everyday! But, when you think things over again, you soon realize that she’s the only one who gets and understands you. She’s fun, loyal and fits right in with the family. A TRUE RIDE OR DIE! Who are you kidding? You ain’t goin’ nowhere and neither is she. But, maybe it’s time to mix things up a bit!

We’re not telling you to get rid of old friends, we just want you to bring new ones into the fold. Are you looking for different ways to rock your denim? If so, you’ve come to the right place! The EGL Fashion Team is here to guide you down a successful denim wearing path that always leads you toward the light.

Are you in deep need of a fabulous dress? You know… that frock that brashly screams, “ATTENTION! ATTENTION, PLEASE!” as soon as you walk through the door. If so, then you will need to have Lashaya Diaz on speed dial!

Lasheaya is the owner/designer of her fashion brand, Shades of Shea and man, is she talented! Laura Govan and Claire Sulmers are two among many who have donned her designs on the red carpet, ultimately giving her the official seal of style approval. Recently, EGL had the opportunity to catch up with Lasheaya to ask a few questions about her designs and overall style. Check out our interview with her, below:

EGL: What made you decide to become a fashion designer?
Lasheaya
: “I decided to be a fashion designer, because it was the one thing I was passionate about throughout my childhood. I wasn’t into sports, however, I loved shopping and dressing up. I will live just to flip through the new issues of Vogue, Elle, and Glamor magazine, for the season’s new looks. My grandmother and mom were also big influences. My mom worked with Tommy Hilfiger and grandmother sewed, so fashion was prevalent throughout my childhood.”

EGL: How do you describe your fashion and style?
Lasheaya: “I will describe my fashion style as glamorous and traditional with a modern twist, I love playing with ultra-vibrant prints.”

EGL: Did you receive any formal training in Fashion Design? If so, from where?
Lasheaya
: “I attended Fashion Industries High School in New York, where I learned basic training in fashion design. However, most of the silhouettes I design are self-taught.”

EGL: What is your favorite part about being a fashion designer?
Lasheaya:
“My favorite part of being a fashion designer, I would say, is seeing the finishing design of my vision and making people feel and look beautiful. The feeling of people all over the world loving my creations feels amazing. I feel like my custom designs are a secret code of expression, being able to connect with people around this vast world, through the art in fashion.”

EGL: Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Lasheaya: “My inspiration comes from the world around me, the everyday struggles of being a woman, running a business and finding solutions within my fashion. Simply put fashion is my sanity and I see designs in everything from movies to picking out fruit. It’s crazy, but the color patterns I choose sometimes comes from the assortment of fruit at the fruit stand.”

EGL: What material is your favorite to work with?
Lasheaya
: My favorite materials are printed, sequins and glitter, as well as Ponte… tough to choose just one, you know (bats eyelashes)?!

EGL: Who is this biggest celebrity you’ve ever styled?
Lasheaya: “In my mind… Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. LOL! But, so far, Jazmine Sullivan and Fantasia all come to mind as celebrities I’ve dressed and said to myself, “Whoa! This is big!”

EGL: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned since starting your company?
Lasheaya: “One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned was work/life balance. Sometimes when you’re so passionate about your goals you lose sight of the important things in life, such as family loved one’s health and peace of mind.”

EGL: What advice do you have for other aspiring fashion designers?
Lasheaya: “Stay true to yourself, believe in YOU, work hard, be patient, consistent and have a plan. Dedication and consistency will get you where you want to be in life.”

EGL :What are your plans for the future?
Lasheaya: In the future I plan on finding manufacturers to help mass produce my designs, to sell globally and upgrade from my showroom to a new store front.”
